Hot GIF: Lucroy Gets It in the Beanbag

If you’re the sort of person who possesses a Y chromosome — and the anatomical features that come along with same — you’re very likely also the sort of person who understands intimately what sort of pain Brewer catcher Jonathan Lucroy experienced directly after this encounter with a foul ball off the bat of Rays outfielder Matt Joyce in the sixth inning of Tuesday night’s contest between Tampa Bay and Milwaukee.

To get the best sense possible of the exact sort of pain, regard how lowly a wretch it rendered Lucroy, a man whose job it is to squat for three hours at a time in the heat while having horsehide thrown chestward:

Or perhaps consider the knowing smirks on the faces of those who did not just receive a karate chop to the babymaker.

Like pitcher Chris Narveson, for example:

Or manager Ron Roenicke and (I think) pitching coach Rick Kranitz:

Perhaps the most interesting discovery from this whole encounter is the existence at all of the camera with which the video footage in the above-embedded GIF was taken. Though I, personally, do not watch every minute of every Brewer game, I certainly watch a number of them, and I truly don’t recall the existence of a right-field camera — which, using Occam’s own personal Razor, that leaves us to conclude either that (a) this camera is new-ish or, more sinisterly, that (b) the Brewers have a camera expressly designed for capturing slow-motion footage of catchers getting it in the crab apples.

Would you rather take a foul tip to the nuts

Live with the shame of picking Mike Trout #3 in a fantasy baseball draft of actual major league baseball players who are playing real life baseball right now.

#6 in the Francise draft was Pujols btw. The #6 curse lingers on!
