A Quote and a Movie

Ezekiel 25:17. “The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.”

Someone else can probably point this out in a jerkier fashion, but that quotation is from “Pulp Fiction,” and not from the Book of Ezekiel, chapter 25 of which is some yammering about how all these tribes don’t give props like they should and they’re going to get theirs, no doubt. The last bit (“I will blah blah know that I am blah blah vengeance on them.”) is verse 17.

The rest may be cobbled from elsewhere but I guess that for the most part Tarantino (or whoever) just made it up. For what it’s worth, I would suggest that “iniquities” would have made more sense than “inequities,” but he’s the zillionaire, so I guess he knows his bologna.

It would have been better if I had softened that with something positive to say about the video, like the swell gams (possibly) on that dame in the pink (everyone’s hotter in low-res), or about how that guy was indubitably tyrannical. I am such a bastard.

Ah no. I know it’s not a bible quote. I was quoting the movie! Guess I could have made that clear. I just think it was funnier this way because this is obviously not real vengeance, but it does seem to fall from the sky.

Quite so. I recognized after I posted that I may have missed the joke entirely, but by that point I was stuck for it, for the Graphs comment board is a master that overlooks no error. My brain doesn’t really work any more so I’m just learning to accept these things.
