Scouting Tracy McGrady from a 2003 Promotional Video
Reports from the weekend suggest that recently retired NBA player Tracy McGrady has no little interest in playing professional baseball — and is likely to do so this season for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.
A brief inspection of Obama’s Internet reveals no footage of McGrady’s recent workouts with Arizona Diamondbacks scout Scipio Spinks, who’s indicated that the former basketballer is throwing “between 85 and 86 miles per hour” and has quickly learned a “true slider” with “good break on it.” What it does reveal, however, is the video embedded above — from 2003, it would appear — of Tracy McGrady promoting a bat giveaway for Orlando-area children.
From that same video, one concludes conclusively with regard to McGrady as a pitcher that he:
- Needs to utilize his bottom-half more effectively; and
- Might have fly-ball tendencies; and
- Has trouble with nine-year-olds.
