Carson Cistulli and the Dropped Foul Ball

The FanGraphs crew is in beautiful, sunny, and warm Phoenix, Arizona. They’re watching spring training baseball, drinking brews, and doing what they do best: being unapologetic nerds.

Me, I’m stuck in freezing-ass-cold Toronto, chained to my frigging desk, and bitter about it. But I’ve been following the gang’s exploits on Twitter:

I’ll be honest, the first thought that crossed my mind was: Dayn Perry would have caught it. (I’m sorry, Chairman Cistulli. Please forgive me.)

When asked about the incident after the game, by a member of his very own Investigative Reporting Investigation Team, the team he founded and leads, Cistulli was surly:

“No comment, asshole.”

Cistulli then proceeded to go all Kenny Rogers on our camera man. He apologized, and charges aren’t being pressed, but, man, was it ever awkward. While our intrepid Investigative Reporting Investigation Team is a bit rattled, they understand that this is part and parcel of the award-winning work they do. I thank them for their diligent reportage, and look forward to their next dispatch.

The disdain in Dave’s tweet is just really great and wonderful.
