GIF: Dickey’s Slow Flow is Remarkable

R.A. Dickey doesn’t always throw his slow knuckleball. But when he does, he chooses to make an impression.

Update: This pitch was called a ball. It left his hand at 60.7 mph, and crossed the plate at 55.5 mph. It was classified a curveball. It’s possible it was a curveball, but it had six inches of ‘rise,’ which isn’t usual for a curve. This is what Dickey does to classification systems. And viewers, apparently.

Reclaiming Bacon Thanks to Josh Reddick

No, we’re not eating reclaimed bacon here, that would be gross. We’re reclaiming bacon for Oakland. Like Josh Reddick, bacon is now the property of this city. If you’d like to eat any, pay us our copyright fees and we’ll be fine. We’re working on fried chicken, and also all of Reddick’s different facial hair looks. Better watch out, especially if you call Reddick a fourth outfielder again.

Ballpark Beer Review: Dodger Stadium

Depending on your goals, Dodger Stadium is either a boom or a bust from a beer perspective.

If you are looking to alter your experience through the use of a society-approved liquid drug, then the stadium is ready to provide. Their prices and sizes are very pocket-friendly: you can get a 24-ounce ‘tall boy’ domestic draft beer for $10.25, which is better value than most stadiums provide. These are large beers for a good price.

If your aim is to drink the best-tasting beer that you might want to drink while facing the pitch, well then Chavez Ravine might have the worst beer selection in the bigs.

Tips for Von Hayes’ LinkedIn Profile

Von Hayes has a LinkedIn profile. I went ahead and made it a little more robust — he wasn’t taking full advantage of all the skills and languages he learned while in the game, it seemed.

GIF: Cashner v Bauer

Pitcher porn happened last night. The 100-mph throwing Andrew Cashner took on the foul-line to foul-line long-tossing Trevor Bauer in a battle of the babies. Each young prospect went into the game riding the wave of good feelings and expectation. Each left a little tarnished. Cashner, known for both his filthiness and his fragility, strained a lat muscle and will be out three weeks at least. At least it wasn’t the elbow that everyone thought he was pointing to when he was taken out. Bauer, known for his wide array of pitches and also his inconsistent ability to control those pitches, left early after walking too many and being a little too hittable.

Before they left, however, they left an impression that might last a while.
