Announcement: New and Morbid NotGraphs Logo

About three years ago now, the author utilized what little he possesses in the way of photo-editing skills to produce the image — of portly and irascible major-league umpire Joe West ejecting NotGraphs — which thereafter became the official logo for the present site.
As of this AM, that logo has been replaced by a new and morbid variation on the theme, care of avant-garde male model Patrick Dubuque. In the case of this image, one finds not only Joe West but also, in West’s right hand, a scythe — with which dated agricultural instrument he intends, presumably, to murder the present site to death.
Carson Cistulli has published a book of aphorisms called Spirited Ejaculations of a New Enthusiast.

Carson, Joe West isn’t murdering the website. YOU are, you ugly bastard. And for this, there is a price on your head. $10 in eggnog, specifically.
Seriously, if you don’t want to do your job anymore, just quit. You don’t need to destroy your employer. You’ve probably just watched ‘Office Space’ too many times.
Indeed. If the death of NotGraphs is all up to Cistulli (and not an Appelman/Cameron decision), I would be more than willing to help with editing duties of the site starting in November. No doubt another enterprise-spirited individual or two could be found among the staff.
This is a serious offer/request/demand. Carson, you know my Twitter handle and email address.
#KeepNotGraphs
I nominate the WBE, a gent of high standing in these message boards, for EPC (Editor Post-Cistulli).
Seconded.
Also, what about allowing “community” contributors, if there’s any concerns about the time regular FanGraphs staff spend developing NotGraphs posts?
#KeepNotGraphs
I too would be happy to contribute my time (and rudimentary knowledge of the English language) to the continued existence of NotGraphs.
I strongly suspect, however, that this is a considered choice by the entire FanGraphs team, and not Cistulli taking his ball and going home.
That, alas, is what I suspect too.
Still, #KeepNotGraphs
I just re-read the original post. A close reading of Cistulli’s prose is impossible, because it’s Cistulli’s prose, but the general impression is that Cistulli getting bored is the primary reason, along with a group of unmentioned secondary reasons. There is also the possibility of NotGraphs being replaced by “new projects”.
Even if Cistulli instigated this, you have to think that at some point the idea of “couldn’t we just replace this guy and carry on” was discussed and rejected.
And what “new projects” could compare to the glory of NotGraphs?
#KeepNotGraphs
I will keep retweeting ANY tweet that has the #KeepNotGraphs hashtag in it. AND an automatic follow, so let’s get the word out.
Just neighing.
You haven’t followed me yet Elway!
And while we’re at it, neither have you Carson. If Craig Robinson (the English artist in Mexico) and American brute Dayn Perry can see fit to follow me, you’d think that would be able to as well..
Hay, had to canter away for a bit. Regular trip to the vet. I’ve followed you, as promised.
#KeepNotGraphs
So would I. Carson, I am readily available to help out in any way. Please, don’t take away the best part of fangraphs (IMHO). I’ve said before that I come for the stats, and stay for the art. It was a lie. I come for the art, and stay for the art. Don’t take this away. You can change your mind. #keepnotgraphs
I support the #KeepNotGraphs movement as much as the next dickie bird, but I’m not sure we know enough about the situation to place all the blame on Carson. Sure, he mentioned in the expiration post that it was *his* opinion the NotGraphs experiment had run its course, but I find it hard to believe that Appelman and other FanGraphs brass didn’t affect the decision.
…naaaah. http://www.fangraphs.com/not/category/cistulli-f__k-that-guy/
Well on that note, yeah.
F__k that guy.
Oldseacaptain-this is no time to be calm or rational.
